Presentation
IN-projects are innovative, interdisciplinary and intercultural projects in the Franco-German school-project-network. The Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO) supports and funds international projects that are carried out by French and German classes and groups from secondary schools working together on a school project or organizing a student exchange.
French and German partner schools can take part, if at least one school provides intensive foreign language classes in the partner language. Partnerships are therefore possible between French-German schools or schools that offer bilingual classes or the Abi Bac option. Moreover, funding is open for German schools that offer French language classes from fifth grade upwards or French schools with a section européenne.
The student projects and school exchanges can be carried out independently in cooperation with the partner school in either France or Germany, so there are no limits for your pupils’ creativity to unfold. The FGYO’s priority regarding IN-projects is the underlying Learning-by-Doing concept by which we hope to endorse the active participation of all pupils involved in the project. The innovativeness of your project, an interdisciplinary approach to carrying it out and an added intercultural aspect have a specific focus. Participating pupils should work in an interdisciplinary way and develop their linguistic and intercultural skills by cooperating with their peers from either Germany or France.
In case you and your partner school are working in tandem and want to organize a student exchange or international project, this is also possible. Send in your application. A Franco-German commission will choose up to 25 IN-projects each fall that the FGYO will provide funding for throughout the following year.

Advantages of the program
Use the chance to organize an innovative project in an institutionally funded framework. We want to give pupils and students the chance to develop their creativity and carry out an international project while improving their intercultural and linguistic skills.
The interdisciplinary nature of education is becoming ever more important. We have therefore created a possibility for pupils to develop this related skillset.
Improving intercultural skills is a priority of the FGYO’s institutional directives. We want to endorse the Franco-German partnership by creating this opportunity for pupils to visit the partner country as part of a student exchange or while working on an international project.
How to sign up
Only one of the cooperating schools needs to send in an application for funding. Before doing so, it is necessary to consult the person in charge of this program from the partner institution regarding the project’s conception, the exact dates etc.
After independently registering on our IN-project’s website, you need to fill in the online application form.
The complete documents including the declarations of consent of both project leaders from the partner institutions need to be printed and sent to the following address by post:
