Programme Organize professional youth meetings at the partner's location If you are working at a vocational training institution or an agricultural school, you can offer your apprentices and trainees the opportunity to participate in a youth meeting with French and German partner institutions. Quick access Presentation Registration details Home page > Programmes and training > Organize professional youth meetings at the partner's location Presentation The Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO) supports vocational and agricultural schools in carrying out exchange programs. Some 11,000 young people participate in DFJW's intercultural exchange programs every year as part of their vocational education and training, gaining experience for their future careers. Through a stay abroad, professional and intercultural skills are developed and expanded. In this way, the young apprentices’ employability can be increased. Participants are generally accommodated in youth hostels or more rarely with host families. Through the exchange, they have the opportunity to get to know French and German apprentices and to compare different training methods. The youth meetings for apprentices can take different shapes. The two groups can develop a project together. Knowledge of German and French is not a prerequisite to taking part. Goal Take part in a programme public Young people sessions At all times, GermanyAt all times, France Duration of the program 4-21 days (arrival and departure days are counted together as one day of the program). Partner countries are discovered together with other apprentices, professional trainees or young professionals from the same industry. 2 Intercultural learning Especially for trainees and young professionals the exchange with peers from other countries is very valuable. Through the experience abroad, a different view on one's own culture emerges and allows for a change of perspective. Prejudices can be understood and corrected. 3 International cooperation Staying abroad allows participants to acquire relevant professional expertise by teaching methods that are new for them. The comparison with the other cultures as well as the different view of one's own culture contribute to the development of a European consciousness. How to sign up All exchange projects require reciprocity with the French and German partner organizations. A project must therefore consist of three parts. Applications must be submitted at the latest three months before the start of the meeting by the French or German partner organization, either directly to the FGYO, to the school authority or to one of the central offices of the FGYO.
