Cinema

Semaine de la Critique au Festival de Cannes

In cooperation with Semaine de la Critique, the FGYO organises Franco-German workshops for school pupils from Germany and France. In this workshop, young people from different backgrounds spend several days viewing short films and feature films from the official film competition. Under the guidance of film critics and journalists, the participants complete cinema-related seminars and write their own film reviews – creating an unforgettable and lasting intercultural experience.

French Film Week Berlin

The FGYO has been a partner of French Film Week  Berlin since 2017. The Film Week is distinguished by a particularly high-quality and up-to-date programme of French and francophone cinema.
The wide-ranging selection attracts young people to the cinemas to create an atmosphere of delightful, emotional and insightful encounters with the neighbouring country. French Film Week also brings together cinema operators, teachers, educational specialists, directors and artists from Germany and France.
Every year, the FGYO contributes to intercultural exchange and cross-border media education with thematic workshops for school pupils.

Pluridisciplinary

Fusion Concept Festival

For more than 10 years, the FGYO has been a partner in the Fusion Concept Festival in Paris. With the support of this Hip-Hop Festival, the FGYO seeks to strengthen the exchange of artistic forms of expression, thereby contributing towards overcoming language and cultural barriers. The FGYO organises, among other things, discussion sessions, residency programmes and workshops on intercultural dialogue through dance.

Longevity Festival

The Longevity Festival in Strasbourg is an initiative by the Longevity association of the same name and seeks to promote the culture of electronic music in Germany and France and make it accessible to all people. The FGYO has supported this Franco-German festival from the outset.

Young Euro Classic

Year after year, the Young Euro Classic Festival brings together the best youth orchestras from around the world in Berlin, including 100 young musicians from Germany and France.

The focus of the  FGYO’s partnership with Young Euro Classic is very much on the plan to resume international youth encounters initiated by the FGYO in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Theatre

Starke Stücke

The international theatre festival ‘Starke Stücke’ [‘Powerful Pieces’] has been presenting versatile theatre programmes for young audiences in Germany’s Rhine-Main region since 1994. The festival is held in a variety of venues including community centres and youth clubs, schools and theatres. Since 2009, it has been held under the patronage of the KulturRegion FrankfurtRheinMain, which co-organises the project.

As a long-standing partner of ‘Starke Stücke’, the FGYO seeks to promote dialogue between young people from Germany and France, and to awaken their interest in theatre art and dramaturgy. After all, theatre offers an opportunity to overcome boundaries and barriers, and to build bridges between different cultures.

Video games

Gamescom

SpielFabrique and the FGYO invite young people from Germany and France to Gamescom for a look behind the scenes of the international industry for computer and video gaming. At the world’s largest trade fair for gaming, participants learn more about career opportunities in game development, as well as about Franco-German cooperation in the cultural and creative sectors.
